My first try at Gary's Monochrome Monday event. All of you looked like you were having so much fun I decided to try, and Gary gave us some excellent hints and lessons on how to do this. This was taken from an overlook at Aptos Village, Calif. It was a gray and overcast day, the only things that really stood out was the vibrant green of the groundcover, and a little red sports car, everything else was subdued like the sky. This is the day I met Linda and Cherie, so needless to say with those two as company, it did not seem overcast or gray at all!! Even when it started sprinkling.
I used the MGI Roxio 4 editing program, I have no idea what I did except play with buttons. I do know I used the eraser tool to uncover the colors again as Gary suggested.
This is the Orginal
Thank you for looking.
WOW very cool John..great job.
ReplyDeleteohhh that is very cool...
ReplyDeletelove the red car...
ReplyDeleteAwesome effects - Love it. By the way the package you sent arrived. Thank You!
ReplyDeleteThe little pigs are adorable and apparently good luck too. I used one of them as a good luck charm at Bingo the night they arrived and won $40.
Great Job I love the way you did that
ReplyDeleteWhere's my $20.00??
ReplyDeleteWell John my penguiny friend its good to have you here with us. This being your solo flight guy you did right proper and brought her back for a perfect three point landing ...Im glad the techniques you see us applying worked for you ...the original was killed by the the weather ..how ever with a good eye you pulled the element out that made this puppy howl..(quit stepping on the puppys tail) with your conversion not only did you get a nice eye catcher with the green you pulled the flatness out of the little neighborhood...there is one red tiled roof in the distance..did you play with throwing the color back in it..it may draw the ey deeper into the shot ..just a thought..again you were spot on dude..jgh
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating in Monochrome Monday

I always favored Schroendinger's Cat, I don't know if I am coming or going most of the time; sometimes it feels like both at once!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, John. I love the little detail of the car...it draws you into the scene, while the groundcover seems to pull you back.
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that... Great post.. and...I LOVE THAT LITTLE RED CAR.!!!! I am sure the day was just perfect.
ReplyDeleteYour is much better than the original one John.Congratulations.

Wow John this is great to have you join us. I always say the more the merrier...
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...I got sunshine on a cloudy day~ that is so cool too.....HUGS
That's really interesting and exciting, nice job! It reminds me of Spielberg's movie "Schindler's list", how the whole movie was black and white except for some objects he chose to evidentiate which were painted in their original colour...:)
ReplyDeleteExcellent It works - I find that looking at the green against the buildings could be interpered in so many ways!
ReplyDeletevery nice job John! You did good! :)
ReplyDeleteSmile maker!!!! you did a great job!!! I love these kinds of photos.
ReplyDeleteReally like this one!!!
Will watch, listen, and play ~ when I get brave ~ will try!!!
Soooo, you just play with buttons??? LOL
wow, that is a really great job you did.......... must have taken you ages to erase all that little detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes getting used to using the mouse in the detail took me the longest to do, many mistakes. Now I am wondering why I did not think to enlarge the picture during that stage? Would that have worked?
ReplyDeleteyes, enlarging the picture to 100% will certainly make the erasing-process so much more easier and accurate. i worked on the original size photograph from the beginning (1.2mb) and only once everything had been done, did I flatten the image and reduce the image size.
ReplyDeleteThe editing made a dull day picture into something really interesting.

Great job Mr O.
ReplyDeleteI do love to play with Photoshop though I haven't opened it in a long time it seems. Maybe I could have a fiddle....
Love the red car ... totally cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm back again after fiddling around making one. This must've been difficult John-putting the colour back on that little car-but like Gary said-it really works and improves on the original. Well done John and thanks for letting me know about this club. Here is my first attempt.

WOW.....how awesome John...I wish I could do that kind of thing. are you using a digital camera???
ReplyDeletewow, I have just noticed, that you left the RED CAR in the monochrome part of the photograph, apart from the greenery in the forefront -- that is just sooooo cool.
ReplyDeleteMakes a nice picture more interesting. Liked the touch with the red car on the street.
