Even a cartoon can speak a thousand words:
We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. -- Winston Churchill

The difference between death and taxes is death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets. -- Will Rogers

The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin. -- Mark Twain

The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax -- Albert Einstein

Taxation with representation ain't so hot either -- Gerald Barzn

Did you ever notice that when you put the word "The" and "IRS" together it spells "THEIRS"? -- Anonymous

It is a good thing that we do not get as much government as we pay for. -- Will Rogers

The most laughable (government) criticism is that tax cuts are a 'free lunch.' The American people's work created that money. Only in Washington could there be a belief that letting people keep more of what they create is a giveaway. -- Forbes, August 26, 1996

I do not mind having to pay taxes, I only would like to see the congress, career politicians, spend it like it was their own money, and wisely, I would even settle for some common sense. -- John "Don't Get Me Stated" Oh
mine are filed, deposited...and spent!
ReplyDeleteLMBBO...I'd like my name removed too
ReplyDeletegreat tune
I love the Will Rogers quote. Actually, I don't mind taxes.... *when* you can see what is being done with the taxes. I want to see good roads, schools, social services, etc etc. Then the taxes are worth it.
ReplyDeleteBwahahahahahahaha...... You know something even when you don't live in the country anymore where you are registered as a tax payer they still manage to find you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBiting fingernails here waiting for the accountants call, to tell me if I am paying or receiving , please let it be the receiving call !!!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ snoopy :))))))))))))
I whole heartedly agree with the last statement. They spend it like there is a never ending supply!!!
ReplyDeleteoh well, time to suck it up and take it like an american, on the chin.
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes, but there is one problem. We don't pay taxes no police, no fire department no public schools, no public libraries and no armed forces.
ReplyDeleteWe need a fair tax system, and one where the agency can not play secret police, and the forms can be filled out by a 2 year old or a chimp.
I shouldn't have had to go to the IRS to get my taxes taken care of, because of a company that did not pay my percentage of taxes.
But as long as you have lawyers as our representatives, you know nothing will improve.

good grief we wont even go there! I think if we earn that money we should be able to tell THEM how its going to be spent, not the other way around.
ReplyDeleteChristopher Columbus brought our ancestors over here for what reason???? To get away from taxation wasnt it? LOL
ReplyDeleteEvery one of those quotes were great! I think I liked the Will Rogers one the best, though. Or maybe the Winston Churchill one, since it seems to apply the most right now! Or Forbes......
ReplyDeleteAnd the cartoon? Priceless!
No Christopher Columbus came here to find the city of gold for Spain.
ReplyDeleteIt was the English who came here to avoid "Taxation without Representation." In reality they came here to avoid religious persecution not issues of taxation.
The taxation without representation came later...when we realized that we were all the way across the big pond and still under rule of a monarchy. And we figured we could do it better on our own! (which, for the most part, we have.....)
ReplyDeleteCorrect.
ReplyDeleteOld saying that is true. Nothing in life is free.
so true.
ReplyDeleteI just wish the government would learn some control...they spend it like it's growing on trees. The old saying "you are never as careful with stuff that's not yours..." (or something like that! :)~)
