PICTURE PERFECT --- INDUSTRY

Photobucket

Old mine along Ishi Creek (?)  Road 32, Butte County.  Camera is a Kodak EasyShare Z612

another smaller version as some have said the large is not viewable, thanks.

A hundred years past;

stamp mills, ore carts,

dust and dynamite,

noise, fire, smoke,

the Earth scared and cut,

Industry came to the middle of no where.

Dreams fade,

empires crumble,

names forgotten

scars slowly heal

Earth reclaims its’ own.

Another 100 years

even Earth will forget

the dreams that were here.

  2. Oh John! It is a beautiful photograph that takes us back to a time. I beg to differ with your last sentence though, I believe that once out there in the world, dreams live on for an eternity and longer, evolving and taking shape. I think sometimes dreams just land on folks. Folks who had no notion that what just transpired was a dream come true, a dream that started as a thought, perhaps in an old mine shaft a hundred years ago by a miner in Butte County.

  13. Great picture. Love the contrast of the mine, with the beauty of nature.

Reminds me of some of the old mines here in Colorado. Funny, yours being a mine because my contribution ties into that indirectly, since it is of the BROWN PALACE Hotel here in Denver.

    Here;s the link.

  39. Wonderful shot, John! I loved places like this that are off the beaten path, but were once a small sort of thriving metropolis all on it's own. I can just see all the men working, living, surviving...

Thanks for visiting mine (yes, a pose, but accurate for what I do during the day...and you only noticed one coffee mug. There are several.) Picture Perfect - Industry

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh... I had thought of that industry and was waiting for someone to have a picture of it. That's an awesome photo of the mining industry... and the caption/poem is so true. Nicely presented John... and I didn't expect it since you're in Monterey. Not an industry that I would associate with a city known for Cannery Row. :)

Thanks for stopping by "Industry Cruises At 30,000 Feet Altitude" and for your kind and thoughtful compliment.

  48. There was a gold rush here on Vancouver Island back in the late 1800s and I've been to the site. There's not much left but you can still see pieces of old mining equipment. Great photo and take on the theme.
