Now I have always really liked Joss Stone's voice, such an old experienced voice coming out of such a young lady. She sounds like she has lived lives far beyond her years. When I heard this live version of SON OF PREACHER MAN, I was floored, Dusty may just have a co-owner.

SON OF A PREACHER MAN JOSS STONE
When I was a much younger, I used to have such a crush on Dusty Springfield, (I can hear a couple of generations out there going WHO???). One of my favorite songs of hers, and one she owned, it was hers, as much as RESPECT is owned by Aretha Franklin, was SON OF A PREACHER MAN.

I like more Dusty Springfield's version... Joss Stone is trying to copy some from Janis Joplin and it does not get all things together well.
ReplyDeleteI tend to like Dusty's version a bit more myself, probably because that is the version I grew up with and the crush might have something to do with it; you might like Sarah Conners version of it, she has more of the softer sultry sound as Springfield didm neither of them has such a strong voice as Joss does. Do not agree with the Joplin, but we can agree to disagree, it is all good/great music.
ReplyDeleteI love Joss Stone, I think she does the old numbers in her own way perfectly!!
ReplyDeleteI love joss stone.. she's really have an angel voice..

Not bad!
i love her dress!
ReplyDeletegosh wish she is hot and sings good..not in that order
ReplyDeleteWell Pengy indeed this is a killer cover and like you grew up listening to Dusty tear this up. However in all fairness Ms Stones version is very well done she spins her own style into it which i like in a cover instead of someone trying to cover it exactly you know... if I want to hear RESPECT I dont want to hear someone trying to sound EXACTLY like Aretha if I did I listen to HER ...great tune to get my day started John..thanks
ReplyDeleteThought Dusty Springfield was great too, but have a CD of Joss Stone I dearly love!!!!!
