MORE MADNESS CRIMINALS HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN VICTIMS

We have had more than enough cases like this in the Great State On The Left Coast.  I am sure the reader has some from their state or country.  Two cases that come to mind immediately:

Sacramento, CA, a high school had painted over the skylights in its' computer lap.  The sun was making it hard for the students to see the monitors as the sun moved across the sky.  A student who had been suspended decided the skylight would be a perfect place to break in and steal computers/software, hardware, etc.  So sneaking over a fence at night, and climbing up a drain pipe, he sneaked across the roof and fell throug the skylight, he could not see it as it had been painted to match the roof color.  He sued, and yes he won  a six digit award.

A second case was in San Francisco, a man knocked a woman down, and stole her purse, some reports say he  yelling  that he was going to kill her.  A quick thinking cab driver pinned this mad man against a wall with his cab.  Yes, the guy sued for damages, and won just under 25,000 dollars.

When did the inmates start running the asylum?

NO BARBED WIRE. . .IT MIGHT HURT THE THIEVES, ALLOTMENT HOLDERS TOLD

Daily Mail on line, UK

A gardener who fenced off his allotment with barbed wire after being targeted by thieves has been ordered to take it down – in case intruders scratch themselves.

Bill Malcolm erected the 3ft fence after thieves struck three times in just four months, stealing tools worth around £300 from his shed and ransacking his vegetable patch.

But Bromsgrove district council has ordered the 61-year-old to remove the waist-high fence on health and safety grounds.

Mr Malcolm, who has grown potatoes, onions, beetroot and asparagus on two patches at the Round Hill allotments in Marlbrook, Worcestershire, for the past eight years, said: 'It's an absolutely ridiculous situation.

'All I wanted was to protect my property but the wire had to go in case a thief scratched himself.

'The fence was just a single strand and ringing my property. It was only 3ft high – it wasn't as though I'd dug a moat filled with piranha fish and erected 6ft iron railings.

'The council said they were unhappy about the precautions I had made but my response was to tell them that only someone climbing over on to my allotment could possibly hurt themselves.

'They shouldn't be trespassing in the first place but the council apologised and said they didn't want to be sued by a wounded thief.

'I told them to let the thief sue me so at least that way I would know who was breaking into my allotment but everything I said fell on deaf ears. It seems as though they are so wrapped up in red tape, they are unable to help me.'

Mr Malcolm said he had been robbed three times since June, along with around 16 of the 50 allotment keepers on the site.

'About £300 worth of tools were taken, including everything from a stainless steel border spade and pitchforks to screwdrivers and hammers,' he added. 'The thieves cut through steel locks on the shed, or broke in through the windows. I caught one lad of about 16 red-handed.

'He dropped the bag of tools and fled, but although the police took a description and finger prints, I heard nothing. Another time yobs (You have to love British slang! "A rowdy, aggressive, or violent young man.") broke in and completely trashed my potato and vegetable patches.

'A lot of people, myself included, are growing our own veg to beat the credit crunch. But what's the point if they are going to be ripped up by mindless idiots?

'I take care of this allotment but it's very demoralising to have your belongings stolen and your hard work ruined.'

A spokesman for Bromsgrove council said: 'With regard to the barbed wire, when this is identified on site, we are obliged to request its removal or remove it on health and safety grounds.'

Sergeant Nick Husbands, of West Mercia Police, said: 'We can confirm that five thefts from Round Hill allotments have been reported in the past year.

'These have mainly been from sheds and our advice to allotment holders is not to leave anything of value there.'

Mr Malcolm's plight comes just weeks after Bristol council angered allotment holders by urging them not to lock their sheds in case burglars damaged them breaking in.  (And be sure to leave them some milk and cookies too.)

  1. Yes it's crazy when the courts listen to the inmates, and take their side. You know their called convicts for a reason. notice the first three letters CON, they sure do con the system.

  3. Nuts...you think the school could turn around and sue the kid for trespassing, robbery, destruction of school property etc?? Heres another for the record book...a friend of mine in San Diego owns a Catering business, he took $15,000 in cash to make a deposit...when at the bank, a guy pulls out a knife, and puts it to the throat of a patron, and demands the teller to give him all the money...my friend always carries a gun when at the bank to make a deposit, he pulled the gun out, and told the guy to drop the knife, and he held the guy at gunpoint until the police arrived. My friend was arrested because he did not have a gun permit...it took him 7 days to get out...while the robber, was out on bail...the next day....

  6. We have a 500,000,000 dollar grafitti problem in Australia, and the cops are giving up catching the 'artists' because the courts hand out a $250.oo fine, and order they undergo community service work.
Why not get the mongrels to clean it off at their own expense??
they had money to put it there in the first place......let them pay for and assist in, the removal.

  7. Frightening! I've heard many similar ones of criminals suing when they get hurt while committing a crime. And, of course, winning.

  9. I agree with you, Criminals are given way too many rights, and too much protection under the law ! We have the same problems here in South Africa .... so much so, that bystanders and witnesses to crimes refuse to get involved and refuse to help in any way, shape or form....

  10. His Lawyer thinks the Judge will drop the case, and the Felony charge, if he applies for a Gun Permit...he has also made the talk show circuits in San Diego, but has decided not to go nationwide because the Judge is working to dismiss the case..and he doesn't want to seem ungreatful.

  11. This is just NUTS... It is amazing that I know for a fact that especially up here in the N states that some homeless and other people will do petty crimes to end up in jail over the winter months and even longer as they are then provided with more rights and things than those of us that have to work our butts off for. They get everything for free...
Heat, A/C, bed, clean clothes, TV, work-out room, computers, education, outside priveledges, 3 square meals a day, and a roof over their head, free health care... I could go on, but ya get the idea...
it is a shame that they have the rights and we don't... lil

  13. OMG ~ this is really crazy... such craziness makes a person wonder. I also read Rockin's comments and just can't believe that.... a man that used a knife to rob would possibly have used it to cut his victums throat... but he gets out on bail the next day while the hero spends days locked up!
Hmmmmmm. Great blog, John... who would have thought if you hadn't reported it???
