TOURISTS STINK!! THIS WEEKS FOOT IN MOUTH AWARD!!

This Week's Winner of the FOOT IN THE MOUTH AWARD, SENATOR HARRY REID (D-NV)  Once again, a Congressman has provided not only some laughs, but has once again proved the Best and the Brightest are NOT in Washington DC.  Then again, they keep getting elected, not sure what that says about us, the, according to Sen. Reid (D-Nv), The Great Unwashed Masses. I have also come to the conclusion that we should stop using the formal "The Honorable such and such" in our addresses to our congress persons, but start using  "The Pompous such and such" where it would be more accurate.  I will start with California's own Senator Boxer (D-Ca), and add Senator Reid to the list.  He did make me laugh, I have to give him credit for that!!

Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nv)

I can only assume that Sen. Reid has become so accustomed to the smell of Bull Sh*t, empty suits and money, that he cannot recognise the smell of the  common  working man.

SEN. REID: WE WON'T SMELL THE TOURISTS ANYMORE

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule (nothing unusual in that statement, after all, it is not their money they are spending-JohnOh), but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won't offend them with their B.O. anymore.

"My staff tells me not to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway," said Reid in his remarks. "In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it's true."

But it's no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space.

And that's not all. "We have many bathrooms here, as you can see," Reid continued. "Souvenirs are available."  (I guess this makes calling American Taxpayers, Stinky and Smelly all okay-JohnOh)

$621 million well spent.

  10. I totally respect your comment, but, sometimes when your in a postion like Harry's, it's better to not say some things....it's better to be diplomatic..but, if you have followed this mans career, you will find that verbal gaffes against constituants, is a past time for Mr. Harry. Sometimes it's better to have a pound of restraint, than an ounce of brain..unfortunately, Harry has only that ounce of brain...and nothing to back that up..I still think the stank is coming from Congress....

  11. Yes indeed it is better to be diplomatic but not everyone has that kind of restraint. In my opinion this particular verbal gaffe is not so terribly uncool but more just amusing and realistic.

  14. maybe mr reid should return to Nevada, then he wouldn't have to be concerned with the aroma of the people visiting the place where decisions are made to waste our money!

  16. Very funny indeed, as for realistic, these citizens used to have to stand in the hot humid sun for hours to view and pay homage to our nations capital, and this man has the gall to say such a thing. It is not like the people he said smell do not bathe or take care of themselves. The same thing for citizens who used to have to stand in the cold for hours on end. At least now they can wait in comfort, just like the congressmen and women. As for the Congressional Visitors Center, the real tragedy is the reason the hundreds of millions of dollars in overruns was because congress added a lot of goodies for themselves in the area of the Visitors Center, in fact was redesigned during construction to meet their wants. May be another blog there. Well we do elect them, time and again. . .Like Rockin' always enjoy your input and opinion, and Sir Harry does have a bit of history on similar comments.

  18. Politics sigh, do you see or hear what is going on in Canada ? After a little Federal Election at the cost of over $300 million , they want to oust the Prime Minister. Although I didn't vote for him , I don't agree on kicking him out. The people voted him in and he should stay. The other 3 parties are joining up greedily for a piece of the pie and rubbing their hands together in glee, wanting to get him out. The election was October 14th and he got voted in a little stronger than the last time. I might not agree with all of his policies, but I disagree with what they are wanting to do. What is the sense of voting if they can do this. I wouldn't say if he did something really wrong then that would be another story. It really disgusts me.

  20. A CNN Mini-Report: In both capital centers of Nevada and Washington, DC, all offices were immediately evacuated due to a gas emmission of immenent proportions. When asked to comment, Senator Harry Reid replied, "The state Militia has been called, and we have rounded up better than 250 visitors from Washington, DC, that seem to be the cause of this disaster."

In Washington , DC, former President Clinton stated, "We have taken action and have gathered up all the cabinet members and the President, and are sending them to an independant area, namely "51" in Nevada. As to the primary oder being contained, we are asking Condeleeza Rice not to step back into the country again. She was the primary carrier. So to answer the main question, no it was not Hillary's panties."

Speculating on all this, The Gov. of Alaska, Sarah Palin remarked, "I can smell something from here."

CNN ... where breaking news is broken like never before. No film at eleven.
