MONOCHROMATIC MONDAY #26

A while back I was playing with the Macro setting on the camera.  Most came out blurry, but a couple surprised me.  This is the finished photo, originally I wanted to have the flower and the butterfly in color, but the flower is, was, and still giving me fits, so decided on just the butterfly:

 

Below is the original photo.  It was pretty straight forward, I used the B&W tool, and then unmasked the butterfly.

  1. I love it. I do think that leaving the whole of the flower and background black and white is better than having the flower colour left in. That is my opinion. I hope you dont mind.

  7. penguin the ladies are spot on in their critique very nice macro shot there old bird of the deep deep south...and when doing color on BW usually one color element tends to work better as the colors want to fight for attention ...the black and white does enhance the detail nice job Pengy

  9. That is just great John, the conversion really made the butterfly pop. Well done! I haven't really mastered macro shooting with my camera yet, or rather haven't tried much lol.

  11. the black and white made the flower I think ..you could see every detail of it and I can imagine how that would give you a pain in the patooty .. great job I think
