PICTURE PERFECT --- MEMORIES

Do the dead Dream?
Do those at rest Remember?
Do they think of us,
as we think of them?
Do they fade as the memories fade?
Do they diminish at each forgotten reminiscence?
Do they wane into shadow,
or is it we who become the lesser,
 for memories forgotten?
JohnO

Camera used was a Kodak Z612 EasyShare.  The picture was taken Friday, Oct. 23rd, 2009, at the old Monterey cemetery.   The picture was solarized, and then the exposure settings were played with.

IMAGES AND WORDS WEEK 24 ANIMALS

My sister would kill me if she knew I used LadyBug's pictures in a challenge with the theme Animals. And to infer that The Princess eats food from a can, well that is just adding fuel to the fire!! So, if you do not hear from me in a while, it is because I am in hiding!!!  Just Kidding!! Judi loves me and I love her.  But just in case you do not hear from me in a while. . .

Okay, this was not my fault.  I simply went to take a picture or two.  But, remember how Luke was pulled by The Force?  This was a lot like that.  I had no will of my own. A force like the moon pulls the tides, irresistible, unrelenting, unending, until the first bite of a Bordeaux washes across your taste buds.  Okay maybe it was the fifth or sixth Bordeaux, you know how it is!

TRIPLE PLAY 8 -- THE HEART

sails

“A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are made for.”

--- William Shedd; Theologian (June 21, 1820 – November 17, 1894) ---

Our hearts are like that.  So safe from harm and hurt if we hold them close, wrap our arms like breakwaters around ourselves, don't share, don't care, don't feel, no storm will touch us here,  but that"s not what our hearts are made for.

THE WATER IS WIDE
(Traditional – 1600s)

The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
And neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And we shall row, my love and I

For love is gentle and love is kind
The sweetest flower when  first it's new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like  morning dew

There is ship and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not as deep as the love I'm in
I know not how I sink or swim

For love is gentle and love is kind
The sweetest flower when  first it's new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like  morning dew

The water is wide, I can't cross o'er
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And we shall row, my love and I

(This is Mary Black's version, the original has several more stanzas)
